How it all began
The Schuldink family and all our staff warmly welcome you to our campground. Since the early 1970s, the Schuldink family has taken great pleasure in ensuring that our guests enjoy a wonderful vacation. What once began as a farm has grown into the cozy family campground that De Pallegarste is today.
It all began around 1970 with a simple question: “Can we pitch a tent behind the barn to spend our vacation here?” Of course, that was possible. Soon more campers followed, and without anyone planning it, a campground emerged.
The name De Pallegarste also has a special story behind it. According to an old legend, a farmhand was walking from the fields to the farm carrying a sack of hulled barley. Upon arrival, he discovered there was a hole in the sack and that the barley had fallen out along the way. He had to retrace his entire route to pick up the grains one by one. As a result, the road was named Gepelde Gerstweg, which over the years was corrupted to Pallegarsteweg. That is ultimately how our campground got its name.
De Pallegarste has since grown into a versatile vacation destination spanning no less than 14 hectares. Here you’ll find, among other things, a large fishing and recreational lake, various playgrounds, swimming pools, an indoor playground, cozy dining options, a mini-market, and a dog-walking area. What’s more, the campground is situated in a beautiful location, halfway between Ommen and Hardenberg in the Vechtdal region of Overijssel. The surrounding area is perfect for lovely bike rides and hikes, and there are plenty of tourist attractions to explore. Whether you’re coming for peace and quiet, nature, adventure, or quality time with family and friends: you’re always welcome at De Pallegarste.
We hope to welcome you soon at De Pallegarste,
The Schuldink Family
