How it all began

The Schuldink family and their team would like to warmly welcome you to Camping De Pallegarste. They have been involved in the camping industry since the early 1970s. It was then that the transformation from farm to campsite began.

Around 1970, they started to allow people to pitch tents behind the barn and spend their holidays there. The Schuldink family agreed, of course, and as more guests quickly arrived, a campsite sprang up out of nowhere. The campsite's name comes from a legend about the street's name. Once upon a time, a farmhand walked from the field to the farm with a sack of shelled barley on his back. When he arrived at the farm, he discovered that the sack had a hole in it, so he had to walk back and collect the barley grain by grain. The route he took became known as 'Gepelde Gerstweg' (Hulled Barley Road), and through corruption this eventually became 'Pallegarsteweg'.

The 14-hectare site now offers a wide range of facilities. These include a large fishing and recreational lake, playgrounds, swimming pools, an indoor playground, catering facilities, a mini market and a dog walking area. The campsite is located between Ommen and Hardenberg in the Vechtdal region of Overijssel. This area is ideal for cycling and walking, and there are many tourist attractions.

We hope to welcome you soon at De Pallegarste.
